I must say that this year has been quite a musical ride! It started off with Fiddler on the Roof, a musical held last February at the prestigious Manoel Theatre produced by F.M. Theatre Productions. A month later, together with Animae Gospel Choir, I performed in the Maltese rock opera Ġensna. In mid-May, I was back to the Manoel Theatre where I performed ‘Stars’ (from Les Misérables) as part of the Johann Strauss School Of Music prize giving ceremony, in which I was awarded a distinction with the highest mark in classical voice!
The Summer was then quite busy with the biennial VOICES concert rehearsals. In mid-September Animae Gospel Choir was invited to perform at the Malta Day – UK Holy Mass held at Westminster Cathedral. Just two weeks later, the VOICES – Heart & Soul 10-concert marathon kicked off.
In November, Animae Gospel Choir was part of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, were we backed last year’s winner Gaia Cauchi in one of her songs. As part of the Republic Day celebrations, we then performed our version of the National Anthem, arranged by Pamela Bezzina & Christian Borg. Our choir ended the year animating the Christmas Eve Holy Mass at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, under the patronage of the President of Malta.
I’m looking forward to another musical year ahead … that includes Manoel Theatre’s upcoming opera L’Elisir d’Amore in March, and Animae Gospel Choir’s national concert in October!
All the best for the new year!
