L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love) is a comic opera by composer Gaetano Donizetti, with an Italian libretto by Felice Romani. It is directed by Denise Mulholland, with costume design by Isabel Warrington, and set design in the hands of Pierre Portelli. We have started rehearsals back in November of last year, in preparation for our performance at the prestigious Manoel Theatre, kicking off in a month’s time.
I’m part of the chorus that accompanies a small main cast of 5 characters; Nemorino, Adina, Belcore, Dr. Dulcamara & Giannetta. The music will be conducted by Philip Walsh, and played by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Costumes are being fitted and rehearsals are going strong. I’m looking forward to this experience, which is a first as part of an opera!
